Grassroots Advocates Defend Wagner’s Pro-Life Record

Denounce Mango’s False Attacks

Paul Mango recently  launched a television attack ad slandering Scott Wagner’s pro-life position. Through letters to their local newspapers, grassroots advocates from across the Commonwealth immediately rushed to Wagner’s defense, highlighting his 100 percent pro-life voting record, which has been praised by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation.

Barbara Yanchek, Jermyn: “Republican candidate for governor Scott Wagner has recently come under attack by his primary opponents about his pro-life stance. Make no mistake, this attack is an outright lie. Scott Wagner has a proven pro-life record. He co-sponsored Senate Bill 3 to ban dismemberment abortion and abortion after 20 weeks, which Gov. Wolf vetoed. He also co-sponsored Senate Bill 300 to defund Planned Parenthood…Scott Wagner is a pro-life warrior and a champion for the unborn. Make no mistake, he will be our pro-life voice in the governor’s office.” (Citizens Voice, 3/18/18)

Matthew Wagner, Mechanicsburg:  “In his recent attacks against Scott Wagner’s 100 percent pro-life record, gubernatorial candidate Paul Mango is simultaneously showing his ignorance of the pro-life issue while insulting pro-life advocates who have been fighting to protect the pre-born for decades…Scott Wagner has a 100 percent pro-life voting record and has spent his time in the Pa. Senate looking for ways to strengthen the Abortion Control Act and save the lives of more babies. Paul Mango would do well to educate himself on the issue and stop insulting dedicated pro-life advocates.” (Sentinel, 3/17/18)

Dilonna Coran: “I’m appalled and disappointed by the Republican on Republican strategy that is becoming the cornerstone of Paul Mango’s Pennsylvania gubernatorial campaign. What’s worse is that the attacks Mr. Mango is spewing are patently false. Recently, Mr. Mango released an ad insinuating that Scott Wagner is not a pro-life candidate. This could not be farther from the truth. Scott Wagner has spent his tenure in the Senate cosponsoring legislation to defend the lives of the unborn. He has pushed for measures that would eliminate dismemberment abortions, ban abortions after 20 weeks, and defund Planned Parenthood. Scott has a 100 percent voting record and has been rated “pro-life” by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation…With liberal interests and Planned Parenthood’s attempts to infiltrate our state, Republicans should be standing together for life, not dividing”. (Lock Haven Express, 3/17/18)

Ernie Post, Spring: “I was disappointed to see Paul Mango’s gubernatorial campaign air misleading information implying that his primary rival Scott Wagner is not a pro-life candidate. As a state senator, Wagner has sponsored legislation defending the lives of the unborn, including pushing for measures that would eliminate dismemberment abortions, ban abortions after 20 weeks and defund Planned Parenthood. Wagner’s 100 percent pro-life voting record has been praised by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, and this past year he sponsored transportation for a group of advocates to attend the March for Life in Washington…I would encourage Mango to pull his misleading ad against Wagner on this issue.” (Reading Eagle, 3/16/18)

Bryant Glick, New Holland: “In this year’s race for governor, state Sen. Scott Wagner is the only candidate who can be trusted to protect the unborn. It is important to me, as a father of three, that candidates don’t just talk about being pro-life. Wagner has taken real action. He has co-sponsored bills to ban dismemberment abortions and abortions after 20 weeks. He has been on the front lines of the effort in the Senate to defund Planned Parenthood. We know what we’re getting with Wagner. I saw a recent interview of Paul Mango, on the other hand, in which he said that the Supreme Court already ruled on abortion and there was nothing he could do about it as governor. That position is unacceptable…Defending the right to life should be a priority for elected officials. During times like these our movement needs someone we can count on, not someone who panders to every different audience he gets in front of.” (LNP, 3/16/18)

Lauren Christmann, Slippery Rock: “While some candidates talk about being pro-life, Scott Wagner is the only candidate for governor who has taken real action to protect the lives of the unborn. His primary opponent, Paul Mango, has attempted to mislead voters and insinuate that Scott is not pro-life. This could not be further from the truth, however the most concerning part is that in a recent interview, Mr. Mango himself said that the Supreme Court has already ruled on abortion and there is nothing he could do about it as governor…As a member of the Pro-Life Caucus, Scott has been rated ‘Pro Life’ by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation and praised for condemning Roe vs. Wade, sending a group of activists to Washington, D.C., for the March for Life.” (Butler Eagle, 3/16/18)

Tom Jones, East Donegal: “I am deeply disappointed by the actions of Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Paul Mango and his continual misleading of voters, specifically conservatives. In a recent ad, Mango has continued to tell lies insinuating that Scott Wagner is not a pro-life candidate. This could not be further from the truth. Wagner has a 100 percent proven pro-life record — a record of co-sponsoring legislation to ban dismemberment abortion, ban abortion after 20 weeks, defund Planned Parenthood and ban abortion based on Down syndrome diagnosis.” (LNP, 3/15/18)

Ada Magni, West Wyoming: “Recent attacks on Scott Wagner’s pro-life position have urged me and other pro-life activists to set the record straight…As a member of the pro-life caucus, Scott has received a ‘pro-life’ rating from the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation. The vicious attacks have prompted the federation to put out a statement supporting Scott’s proven record. This year, we will have the opportunity to elect a governor who prioritizes life and Scott Wagner is the only candidate who has been put to the test and has stood for life.” (Standard Speaker, 3/13/18)
